The line-up for the Lorient-Bermuda-Lorient is continuing to take shape with Thomas Coville and Sodebo officially registering. They will be taking advantage of the race to try out the brand new trimaran, which is due to be launched in early 2019. "It will be the first race with our new boat, Sodebo Ultim'3, just a few weeks after her launch. This crewed crossing across the Atlantic from Lorient to Bermuda and back fits in well with our preparation for Brest Oceans, the first solo round the world race for multihulls, which will start in late December 2019. Lorient-Bermuda-Lorient is the ideal format to test the boat and see how we measure up against the other trimarans in the new generation of Ultim 32/23s," said a pleased Thomas Coville, who has some fine memories of the third edition of the Lorient-Bermuda-Lorient (which in fact was raced between Lorient and Saint-Barth): "I can remember it, as I was the preparateur for Bruno Peyron and Jack Vincent (the winners, editor's note), who were my boss and friend. I can remember it was a very difficult race and they had to give it their all. They really impressed me with the way they sailed and dealt with the weather. Bruno Peyron was someone very subtle and sensitive. He had a very good approach to racing, which was both technical and human, and that was very useful for me later on."
