What actually is the economic model of Lorient-Bermuda-Lorient?
The race has a budget of about 2 million euros and that is based on three pillars just as you would find with a number of other sports events. The first component is public funds which come from institutional partners and local communities, for us that is mainly Lorient Agglomeration - which since 1995 has been mainly responsible for the conversion of the submarine base - the departmental council of Morbihan, and, we hope, the Brittany region, who we are in discussions with. The second pillar is private financing: our goal is to partner with companies that share the same values that we wish to convey through our Lorient-Bermuda-Lorient brand, namely innovation and sustainable development. Finally, the third pillar is the actual marketing of what is happening on the village, ie the stands and hospitality packages, the public and business to business relations operations that companies, partners or similar can organise around a big race festival like this.

What packages do you offer to private partners?
Our commercial offer is based on three levels of partnerships: a main partner and three official partners, who will benefit from different levels of branding on the competitors' sails. We are also looking for six official suppliers who, in their field of activity, will be needed for the race, this can for example go from digital printing to human resources. As for the hospitality packs, they will soon be marketed by the Sellor, a mixed services company which manages marinas and tourist facilities in the Pays de Lorient.

What types of partners are you reaching out to?
In the first place  we are looking to companies which share our values, so we are exploring the renewable energy sector. The level of official suppliers appeals to preferred companies in the Lorraine and Brittany regions to access this major race that we are effectively relaunching in part for them. One of the objectives of Lorient-Bermuda-Lorient is really to highlight all the know-how in offshore racing that is found in the whole area of South Brittany.

Will Lorient-Bermuda-Lorient have a title-partner?
No, there will be no naming partner as such because we did not choose to create a race from scratch, but to build from a race that had a history and roots. To give it real, authentic value and to awaken it in the minds and consciousness of Lorient people and the wider, global public, it seems more legitimate to us to use the original name.
